Texans SC and FC Dallas product Chris Richards notched his first goal for the Bayern Munich U19 squad in a 3-1 victory over Hoffenheim in the DFB Junior Pokal. Richards headed home a corner in the 45th minute to give his squad a 3-0 lead and achieve a bit of a milestone for himself.
Richards displayed some serious talent and great poise during Bayern’s Audi Summer Tour for the International Champions Cup competition, which he has carried over into his work on the U19 squad.
The win pleased coach Sebastian Hoeneß:
In the first half we showed a good performance, that was very close to what we imagined. We’ll have to analyze the second half. Before the break, we created the starting point for progress. Hoffenheim has then put an all-or-nothing mentality on the day and we have to react better.
Joshua Zirkzee, who was profile last week in our Bayern Wunderkind Watch, scored the other two goals for Die Roten.
