Pep Guardiola would love to bring Toni Kroos to Manchester City (Don Balol)

Per Don Balon, former Bayern Munich coach and current Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola, is looking to swipe German international, Toni Kroos, from the clutches of Real Madrid.

Former Barça coach Pep Guardiola has put in his sights one of the stars of Real Madrid to strengthen Manchester City: German midfielder Toni Kroos. The current coach of City believes that the German would be an excellent reinforcement for his team...

But Pep will have some stiff adversaries should he formally pursue Kroos.

Guardiola, however, will have a lot of competition when it comes to taking Toni Kroos to the Premier League. His great nemesis, the Portuguese José Mourinho, also has (Kroos) mind when it comes to propping up the Manchester United squad, even though his favorite for the post, at the moment, is Ivan Rakitic.

So, both Pep and Mourinho want Kroos, but Mourinho only wants Kroos if he can’t get Rakitic. Just making sure you were fully in the loop with “The Don.

Today’s kits for both teams (@FCBayernEN)

Highlights of Renato Sanches against Bayern in 2016 (@BenficaYouth)

Ahead of the match today, here is a highlight reel for Renato Sanches from the Benfica-Bayern game in 2016.

Bayern’s U19 lineup for the UEFA Youth League match against Benfica (@FCBjuniorteam)

In a game that went off this morning (well, morning in the United States anyway)...

This was a strong line-up for the Bayern side. Among those starting for Die Roten included Bavarian Wunderkind Watch subjects Christian Fruchtl, Joshua Zirkzee, Oliver Batista Meier, and Alex Timossi Andersson.

In addition, Josip Stanisic, who recently committed to Germany over Croatia for international play, and FC Dallas and Texans SC alum Chris Richards were also featured. Other excellent prospects like Meritan Shabani, Jonathan Meier, Lars Lukas Mai, and Marin Pudic rounded out the Starting XI.

Overall, this group has some excellent experience with the first team either from last season or the Audi Summer Tour.

A call for fan groups (BavarianFootballWorks.com)

We are trying something here at the Daily Schmankerl and need YOUR help. If you read my man Tommy Adams’ piece about his experience with the FCBNYC Fan Club (if you haven’t, SHAME ON YOU!), you could see how great the event was. So we want to highlight some of these wonderful groups that are out there globally and this is what we need from you:

  • Name of the group
  • Location
  • Year founded
  • Leadership (if you have people are kind of running the show)
  • Meeting place
  • Social media handles
  • Pictures

We have 7 clubs on board so far. I’d LOVE to be able to feature a different fan group every week this season. Maybe we can do it, maybe not...but only YOU can help decide the fate of this idea. Send your info to: barrelsportsblog@gmail.com.
