A 22-year-old striker from the African nation of Angola has popped up on Bayern Munich’s radar.
Reports from Portuguese football outlet A Bola say Die Roten are in competition with Liverpool and Nürnberg for Gelson Dala. Dala, who is under contract at Sporting Lisbon, is currently on loan at Portuguese side Rio Ave, where he has three goals and three assists in seven appearances. Dala has only made one senior appearance for his parent club, a 4-2 win in the Portuguese League Cup.
His record with the Angolan national team has been far more productive. Since his debut in mid-2015, Dala has scored six goals in 19 appearances, five of which came in qualifying for the African Cup of Nations. Thanks to his efforts, Angola are third in the standings and only behind on goal difference.
Dala just recently penned a contract to stay in Lisbon until 2022 and has a €60 million release clause. Outside of his recent performances, there isn’t much to support Bayern signing him right now. However, with his quick pace and high skill, this is a talent Bayern should continue to monitor through the years.
