Manchester United may be leaving Munich with a disappointing performance against one of the world’s best teams, but they are trying to bring one of Bayern Munich’s centerbacks home to England with them. According to Bild, United have contacted Bayern in an effort to begin negotiations over the transfer of Jerome Boateng.

Before the match, Jose Mourinho spoke about the transfers he wants. “My CEO knows what I want for quite a long time, I know he tries to do the best for me and I know there is still a few days left.”
The Bild report goes on to state that Bayern are asking for €50 million for Boateng, who is under contract in Munich through 2021.
Boateng started Sunday’s match against United on the bench, while Mats Hummels and Niklas Süle got the start. He came on for Hummels at halftime and played the full 45 minutes. He didn’t have a lot to do in the second half, as Bayern had full put United under control in the match, but he did draw a yellow card for a professional foul.
If United do want to sign Boateng, they have to complete the deal before the end of the day on August 9th. The English transfer window closes on that day, as the Premier League begins on Friday, August 10. If, however, a deal can’t be completed before then, the potential still exists that Boateng could find his way to Paris Saint-Germain, as the transfer window in France remains open through the end of August.
