To start the 2018-19 season, Bayern Munich only have two players out on loan. Marco Friedl joined Werder Bremen last January, while Timothy Tillman joined Nürnberg this summer. For the duration of the Bundesliga season, we’ll track their development and any related news. If any other Bayern players go on loan, we’ll be sure to add them to the list to keep an eye on them as the season progresses.

Marco Friedl - Werder Bremen

Friedl made the gameday squad for Werder in their 1-1 draw with Hannover 96, but he didn’t see the field. The left back featured regularly in the second half of the last season for Werder after joining them on loan in January. With Juan Bernat apparently heading to Paris Saint-Germain, it will be interesting to see if Bayern try to end Friedl’s loan early to bring him back to Munich or if the club is satisfied with Rafinha being the only backup for left and right back.

Friedl’s loan with Werder ends in June 2019.

Timothy Tillman - Nürnberg

The 19-year old attacking midfielder made the game day squad for Nürnberg in their 1-0 loss away to Hertha Berlin. He was, however, one of the unused substitutes for the match. Nürnberg created a number of chances in the match but were unable to convert. Tillman’s loan will be one to track, as he’s been seen as one of the more talented players to come out of Bayern’s academy in recent years, including a sensational season with Bayern Munich II in the Regionalliga.

Tillman’s loan with Nürnberg ends in June 2019.
