Ahead of his Bayern Munich testimonial match on August 28th, Chicago Fire star Bastian Schweinsteiger and his team will have an open training session on August 26th at Bayern’s training ground at Säbener Strasse. The details of the training session, as listed on FCBayern.com, are below:

Bastian Schweinsteiger is returning home. The midfielder spent 17 years with FC Bayern and a large majority of that time was at Säbener Straße. And on 26 August he’ll return to prepare himself for his testimonial at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday 28 (1:30PM Central Standard Time). He’ll be bringing his Chicago Fire team for an open training session at the FCB training ground on Sunday at 5:00PM Central Standard Time, giving fans the chance to see their long-time favorite in action once again.

The match which will be broadcast on FloSports and will feature Schweinsteiger playing a half for each team.

The 34-year old Schweinsteiger may be looking to the trip as a chance to help the Fire regroup as the team has dropped eight straight matches in Major League Soccer. Chicago will have a chance to head into the trip on a winning note, however, as the squad will face off against the Columbus Crew on Thursday at 7PM EST in what seems like a “must win” game for the reeling Fire.

Bavarian Football Works correspondent Patrick Pintaske is expected to be on-hand to cover the open training for our site. Be on the lookout for his insight on that event, along with coverage on the testimonial match.
