Report: Bayern Munich turn down swap deal with Manchester United

It wouldn’t be a complete day of transfer news without the Red Devils getting in on the action.

“Speak of the Devil and he shall appear.” Never has this statement been more true than in the football transfer business. Manchester United, who are generally interested in any warm-blooded creature that can kick a football, were reportedly after Jerome Boateng of Bayern Munich. Can this transfer window get any crazier?

The article by Bild, which is behind a paywall (because of course it it), says that United wanted to exchange Jerome Boateng for Anthony Martial. Reportedly, the Bavarians turned them down because apparently the Bayern bosses think the team has too many wingers and do not want to add another. This is mostly true, since the squad currently boasts the likes of Kingsley Coman, Serge Gnabry, Arjen Robben, and Franck Ribery, with Canadian sensation Alphonso Davies set to join in January.

Boateng, who has been linked heavily with PSG this summer, remains a Bayern Munich player at the moment. The team only wants a transfer fee for him; they will not entertain any swap deals. As of this moment, Thomas Tuchel’s PSG remain the front runners to sign the defender.
