Well, it’s been a little uneventful so far this transfer window, so let’s talk about Leon Goretzka, Bayern Munich’s only real signing this summer. The former Schalke lad had already signed a pre-contract with the club back in January, so you could say that this has been a very boring summer for fans of the Bundesliga champions.
Goretzka’s presentation was supposed to take place yesterday, but instead it was delayed to this afternoon for ... some reason. We were never quite told. In it, it was confirmed that our newest signing would wear the #18 jersey at Bayern. Here he is alongside sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic, holding up his new red jersey.
Goretzka confirmed that he had rejected an offer from FC Barcelona to come here. Brazzo confirmed that the youngster was to have a key role to play in the upcoming seasons.
Goretzka and the rest of Bayern’s World Cup contingent (except Corentin Tolisso) have already joined the team and begun training with Niko Kovac. The players will be looking forward to their next match against Manchester United in a friendly on August 5.
