Bayern Munich wanted to reduce the size of the club’s roster heading into the 2018-19 season, and after the addition of Leon Goretzka it made sense that at least one central midfielder would be on the move. With Arturo Vidal already a member of Barcelona, it looks like we’re moving closer and closer to another player being on the way out.
Sebastian Rudy has drawn the attention of RB Leipzig in recent weeks. Now, in an exclusive report from local Leipzig publication Sportbuzzer, we have learned that Rudy visited Leipzig on Friday and was seen at their training facility at Cottaweg.
The Bayern midfielder is seen as a potential replacement for Naby Keita, who left the club this summer for Liverpool. The hold up appears to be over the transfer fee and his salary. Leipzig has been running a “buy young and cheap” transfer policy for years, and Rudy would break both of those rules if the deal goes through.
Rudy is on the bench for Sunday’s DFL Supercup match against Eintracht Frankfurt.
