Now...Real Madrid may want Robert Lewandowski (Football Italia)

Not sure this is the exact scenario that Robert Lewandowski envisioned when he dreamt of leaving Bayern Munich for Madrid.

Real Madrid want Eden Hazard plus either Mauro Icardi – who has a €110m release clause – or Robert Lewandowski if Cristiano Ronaldo joins Juventus. According to Sportitalia, the Merengues are preparing their plan to calm the supporters if CR7 leaves for a new experience at Juve at a cost of €100m. President Florentino Perez is definitely targeting Hazard from Chelsea, and the on-going uncertainty over who the new coach will be isn’t helping the situation. That must be postponed until after the World Cup, as Hazard and Belgium have reached the semi-finals against France and will play at least the third-place final. As for the other addition, Italian television channel Sportitalia suggest it’s a choice between Inter hitman Icardi or Poland’s Lewandowski.

Hazard AND Lewandowski would be a pretty big “get” for Real Madrid; I just don’t know if Madrid has the same luster for Lewy without Cristiano Ronaldo. Hazard is phenomenal and I was secretly hoping Bayern would somehow be able to grab the Belgian star to play on the left wing (pipe dream!). But if Madrid really is going to lose Ronaldo, Hazard is one of the few players who could help (somewhat) fill that huge void.

Report: Porto rejects Bayern bid for left back Alex Telles (SI.com)

There has to be something to all of these Bayern offers on left backs. After Friday’s report on Die Roten’s interest in Swiss left back Ricardo Rodriguez, it appears that Bayern is poking around Porto in an effort to lure Alex Telles to Munich.

Portuguese champions FC Porto have reportedly rejected two recent offers for their Brazilian left back Alex Telles. According to Portuguese newspaper O Jogo - via Sapo Desporto — European footballing giants Bayern Munich and Juventus both offered around €35m for the 25-year-old, but Porto rejected both bids. Unfortunately for the Portuguese side, Telles’ contract has a release clause of just €40m, so they may struggle to fend off the Brazilian’s suitors. As well as Juve and Bayern, the left back has also reportedly attracted offers from Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Liverpool.

There have been recurring whispers over the past two years about David Alaba allegedly seeking a new challenge, but barring the Austrian actually bolting Munich, it seems odd that Bayern would be looking to spend €35m for a player like Telles, who would be a substitute at best. Rodriguez, whose value is estimated at €15m by Transfermarket, would not be cheap, but seems more reasonable for a position that can already be filled by Juan Bernat (if he remains on the roster) or Rafinha.

PSG officially inks Gianluigi Buffon (@PSG_English)

As we noted Friday, Thomas Tuchel is making some strategic improvements to Paris Saint-Germain and despite Gianluigi Buffon’s advanced age (40), the goalkeeper should lend some stability and experience to the PSG lineup.

Boateng is in Los Angeles (TMZ)

Per a video captured by TMZ, Jerome Boateng is in Los Angeles and was asked who he thought would win the World Cup, to which he responded: “I do not know. We will see. Maybe France.” When asked if he was planning on playing in the next World Cup, the center back responded, “I don’t know.”

Look, I don’t wanna crack too hard on the person asking the question, but the next World Cup is four years away and Boateng has been linked to about a dozen different transfer rumors....and those were the best questions that person could think of?

Why not just hit him with any of the following:

  • “Jerome! Jerome!....In-N-Out or Steak n’ Shake?”
  • “Jerome, is Ozark just Breaking Bad with money laundering instead of meth?”
  • “Jerome, are you also in LA to sign with the Lakers?”
