A whole new season is around the corner and as the new head coach of Bayern Munich, Niko Kovac is expected to make decisions regarding the team and the players. In an interview given to Kicker, Kovac stated that Manuel Neuer and Thomas Müller will continue to be Bayern's captain and vice-captain respectively.

The Croatian also said that every player in the team, including Arjen Robben, Franck Ribery and Mats Hummels know their value in the club and are basically skippers without an armband:

Yes! We won’t change anything. Actually, we could hand out eleven captain’s armbands on each matchday. Everyone in the team knows his value in the club. Arjen, Franck, Mats Hummels, Jerome Boateng are also all captains, even without an armband.

According to Kovac, a team has to have leading personalities who can keep the cabin under control; a coach can't take care of everything on his own and he needs helping hands in and out of the locker room:

Leading personalities that are the extended arm of the coach and keep the locker room under control. As a coach, you can’t take care of everything yourself anymore. The job is too complex for that.

After Philipp Lahm's retirement in 2017, the club entrusted Neuerwith the task of keeping the team together and apart from the nine months of injury, he has been doing a great job as a captain.
