Alphonso Davies has had quite the busy week. He spent the first half of the week flying across the United States to meet up with Bayern Munich in Philadelphia and officially sign his contract. Then, he flew back to the west coast of Canada to train with the Vancouver Whitecaps before their Saturday night MLS match against Minnesota United.
Davies scored two goals and had an assist in a big 4-2 win for the Canadian club. He showed why the Bavarians have plucked him out of North America with every intention of playing him with the first team beginning in January.
I’ll ask you to ignore the ridiculous turnover that starts the Vancouver attack and just focus on Davies once he receives the ball. At full speed, Davies fakes his shot leaving a a defender flat footed, cuts hard to the right, and dribbles into the box for a simple finish. The move is so simple yet elegant, and when Davies pulls it off at full speed, it has the potential to leave even the world’s best defenders watching him go right past them.

Then, with Vancouver holding on to a one goal lead in the dying minutes, Davies struck again. Receiving the ball just outside the penalty area, Davies cut hard once hanging a defender out to dry. With most of the defense chasing him now, Davies hit the back of the net for his second goal to seal the victory for Vancouver.

And, just for laughs, he nearly pulled off this insanity halfway through the second half.
If you haven't seen Alphonso Davies play live yet, you better catch him while you can. #VANvMIN pic.twitter.com/dRddY4eEy0
