According to SportBild Bayern reporter Tobias Altschäffl, Bayern Munich have finalized the transfer of Canadian prospect Alphonso Davies of the Vancouver Whitecaps.

“Hashan Salihamidzic was recently in Canada and finalized the acquisition of Talent Alphonso Davies,” the tweet reads.

The deal will see Bayern pay a base fee of 13€ million euros, though the price could rise to 20€ million euros when it’s all said and done, according to Krisitan Jack of TSN.

Those hoping to see Davies in action on Bayern’s US tour will likely be disappointed, as Whitecaps head coach Carl Robinson hopes to have Davies in training tomorrow, indicating that Davies will likely remain with the Whitecaps until the end of the season and join Bayern in January of 2019.

Davies, who turns 18 in November, will become the most expensive transfer in MLS history, if the figures are correct. At Bayern, he’ll be expected to succeed Franck Ribery as well Arjen Robben in the coming years and usher in a new era of wing play for the Bavarians along with Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry.
