Coach Thomas Wörle was happy with his squad’s performance.
We controlled the game over the ball possession at the beginning and got ourselves good chances. In the second half of Frankfurt has pressed very high and pressure. Towards the end we had the bigger chances again and deserved to win. In the end, we had the league’s strongest offense and the second strongest defense and have achieved big goals this season. The fourth Champions League qualification in a row is a great success for us. We are after Wolfsburg as the second force in German women’s football and are already looking forward to gaining international experience in the next season!
The team finished just three points behind German champions VfL Wolfsburg and five points ahead of the third place SC Freiburg. The Frauen qualified for the UEFA Women’s Champions League for the fourth consecutive year after Sara Däbritz put home the game-winner 26 minutes into the game when she hit a free-kick from just over 35 meters away.
Däbritz was ecstatic to help clinch another Champions League berth for her team.
We have earned the game deserved today. We have not always shined, but each of us has given everything again, to lay a great end to the season. We have been rewarded for a great season today and look forward to playing again in the Champions League next year.

Melanie Leupolz spoke on the team’s ability to improve throughout the year and set the foundation for a successful Champions League run in the next campaign.
At the beginning of the season, we set ourselves the goals of regaining the Champions League qualification and getting as far as possible in the DFB Cup. The first we have now reached and also the cup final was a great success, even if we have narrowly failed on penalties. We can be very satisfied, but there is still room for improvement. In the Champions League we want to attack significantly more next season.
Verena Faißt echoed Leupolz and thinks the team’s strong second half of the season is a sign of more good things to come for the Frauen.
We are all very happy that we were able to end the season today with one victory and with the Champions League qualification. Today was expected to be a tough game and we dominated in the first half. In the second half Frankfurt put us under pressure even earlier and forced us to make mistakes. We still had the opportunity to score more goals and in the end the victory counts. Now it’s time to recharge your batteries to build on the strong second half of the season.
