James to have MRI on injured calf

The ailment could be bad news for Colombia.

Bayern Munich and Colombia star James Rodriguez is facing increased concerns about his balky calf as he missed a training session ahead of his country’s World Cup Match against England in the round of 16.

The niggling calf injury is nothing new to James as he has reportedly been experiencing discomfort for several months and even missed Colombia’s opening match of the World Cup. It all came to a head, however, when he pounded the turf as he was subbed off in the 30th minute during Colombia’s 1-0 win over Senegal.

Colombia coach Jose Pekerman has said he is “very concerned” about the injury as James had been going through his training sessions normally up until a few days ago. There is no word on his availability for the rest of the tournament until the results of the scan come back. If he is unable to play, Colombia will surely miss the 2014 Golden Boot Award winner.
