Down....But not for long

Yes I'm still super mad about what happened, there were a few walls that suffered my wrath as well as a neighbor who probably pictured me as that kid in the gif below but what can I say about what transpired in these last 3 games that hasn't been said already. Low got it all wrong, Germany didn't show up like we all assumed they would, the friendlies that we all chalked up to just being friendlies ended up being much more indicative of this team then we all thought. This team was no longer suited to play the possession based style we have become accustomed to, It took Spain one World Cup too long to see it and it has happened to us in much the same way. Holland destroyed Spain in 2014 to the tune of 4-1 largely on the same game plan that our 3 opponents used to rock us at this World Cup. Xabi alonso and Xavi were both past it at that point and there was nothing they could do as Holland simply used their pace and some high quality finishing to see them off, now anybody watching these past 3 games can slate Ozil and Khedira directly into those two slots for Germany and see the same thing.

Its ok though there is hope at the end of all this, the team has fallen but It will not stay down for long, the German pipeline is seemingly never ending and we have seen some of it already. The most important thing will now be down to the transition of this current team of aging stars to the younger generation thats much hungrier for success then the old guard can ever be at this point. I fully expect that by Euro 2020 we will have a completely different style of play that better suits our youth, no longer will we walk the ball up from midfield, no more will there be a hundred side and back passes, no more crosses that end up going out for goal kicks, and especially no more watching opposing attackers get past the halfway line with only 2 defenders left to try and stop them. This team will need to play high tempo, one touch and run football that can fully use the strengths of Sane, Werner, and, Brandt as an electric front 3 that will no longer need to have 5 other players in support just to score a single goal. Yes that front 3 alongside a more balanced midfield and defense is what I believe will help rid the demons of this World Cup.

The most important question left is if Low will be the one to do it, there was already talk of a transition period after this World Cup no matter how far we went but will that still be the plan considering the way things went down. Low is great but he fell into the same trap we've seen other great managers fall into and thats the arrogant belief that their smarter then everyone else. Same thing has happened to Pep, Mourinho, Del Bosque, etc... the ultimate success can lead to great failure because of this and Low will have to admit his faults and change his tactics if we are too succeed with him and if he can't then He shouldn't leave it up to the federation he should retire and find his next project at a club somewhere else(I heard Real is hiring). Ultimately I take great comfort in the fact that we know where we went wrong and we have the personal and the players to change it and get it right, I fully believe that this failure will be short lived and that it will become just a hiccup in whats still the GREATEST footballing nation in the world. I believe and as hard as it right now, you should as well.
