The wait is over for the official release of the Bayern Munich 2018-2019 season kit. The red diamond pattern on the front of the shirt mimics the leaked pictures that were previously reported.
As our own Tom Adams so aptly described:
Home jersey: Adidas has once again struck a perfect balance between preserving previous years’ jerseys while juxtaposing them with subtle changes that create a sleek, new look. This jersey has a little bit of everything, including bold vertical pin stripes across the front and white piping on the shoulders, bearing similarities to the 1991-1992 home kits that had subtle, off-white stripes going down the front and back of the jersey. The white shoulder stripes also pay homage to the 2013 kits in which Bayern won the treble under Jupp Heynckes. The navy blue sleeve cuffs also give a bit of a newer feel to the kit, as we’ve grown so accustom to white sleeve cuffs over the past couple of seasons.
Goalkeeper jersey: Consistent with the theme of combining elements of past jerseys with new, subtle additions, the new white and gray striped goalkeeper’s kit offers something a bit different. On close inspection, the jersey combines three different shades of gray. The darkest of the shades appears on the pinstripes down the shoulders and a quarter of the length of the sleeves, mimicking the white stripes of the home kit. The contrasting boldness of the gray stripes across the front of the kit offers a different spin on the subtle off-red diamond patterns that appear on the front of the home kit.
In the event you are in the mood for a video featuring the new kits, we’ve got that for you as well.
The back of the shirt does not feature the pattern, which will provide a clean look for the lettering and numbering.
