Per a report by Sport1, Bayern Munich has promoted Holger Seitz to take over for Tim Walter and coach the second team. Seitz, who had coached at the U17 and U19 levels for Bayern, is 43 years old will take over the U23 squad. Seitz has been with Bayern in a coaching capacity since 2015.

It was previously speculated here and elsewhere that Mehmet Scholl would be the successor to Walter. It was assumed that Scholl, who has previously coached the reserve team at two other junctures, would slide back into the role. The club, however, clearly went in another direction.

“The fact that Holger Seitz is taking over the U23 is an important signal - there is continuity and development - not only for our young players, but also for the coaches of our junior teams,” said Jochen Sauer, head of the FC Bayern Campus.

Meanwhile, Walter, whose contract was not renewed, has his sights set on coaching in the 2nd Bundesliga when an opportunity arises.
