Bayern Munich winger Franck Ribery has extended his contract with the German champions until 30 June 2019. The Frenchman joined the Bavarians in 2007 and has won eight league titles along the journey. He was voted Europe’s footballer of the year in 2013 after being part of a successful treble-winning season with the Bundesliga giants.

Ribery posted a video on his Instagram and Twitter accounts announcing the contract extension. He wrote that he is happy and proud that he’ll be able to wear the Bayern colors for another year:

I’m very happy to be able to play for this great club for another year. Munich has become home to me and my family, and I’m very proud I’ll be able to wear Bayern Munich’s jersey in the new season.

Bayern’s sporting director Hasan Zalihamidzic said that Ribery has once again proved what incredible performances he is capable of and is extremely happy to have him in the team for another year: (FCBayern.com)

We’re very happy that Franck is staying with us. This season, Franck has once again shown in both the Bundesliga and in the Champions League and DFB-Pokal what incredible performances he is capable of and what outstanding quality he possesses. And on top of that he’s one of our fan favorites
