In an interview with Goal, Eintracht Frankfurt’s Ante Rebic talked openly about following fellow Croatian Niko Kovač to Bayern Munich.
Rebic, who can adequately play both left wing and striker, could be a systematic fit in Munich. At 24, Rebic has the pace and tenacity that Bayern fans love and desire for their wingers. While Rebic states he is not currently thinking about a transfer, he doubled back to say it would be hard to resist an inquiry from Die Roten.
Niko Kovac and I have always been a good match. We were in the U-21 team, and in the A class. I enjoy working under him. Thanks to him, he is going to Bayern and we will see what a new season will bring. I’m not even thinking about it [a transfer]. Now I just want to rest well; the season has been long and arduous. Bayern? You all know, it’s hard to resist the call of a large club like Bayern.
Rebic has nine goals and three assists across competitions this season and would absolutely fit the mold of the type of player who could excel in Bayern’s style of play. Conceivably, a wing pairing of Rebic and Kingsley Coman would have frightening speed. As Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery are both still fleet of foot, and Serge Gnabry will return to the fold after a strong season at Hoffenheim, the wings could be very impactful next season for Bayern.
