As Bayern Munich negotiate the murky waters that is the summer transfer window, everyone seems to be in agreement that the club should look to bolster the corps of wingers on the roster. With the rumor that Bayern have offered €60 million for Leon Bailey, it appears that the board believes the same.
My belief has been that Bayern need to find a wide player that is in his mid-to-late twenties with European experience. Players that fit the mold are Chelsea’s Eden Hazard and Willian, and Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale. Bayern is set with the veterans (Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery) and the young guys (Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry).
So, you know who fits that mold perfectly and is actually still under contract with Bayern? It’s Douglas freakin’ Costa.

Juventus will have until July 1 to decide whether or not they will try to make Costa’s loan deal a permanent move. They will need to negotiate a permanent contract with Costa at that time. (The situation is almost exactly the same as when Bayern signed Coman from Juventus.)
Bayern should 100% try and hijack this deal and bring Costa back to Munich.
Costa was sent away to Turin last summer when he was deemed surplus to requirements by the failed Carlo Ancelotti experiment. Ancelotti was somehow under the impression that Costa wasn’t needed with an aging Robbery and a still-learning Coman. “Uh, yeah, sure, I can cram Thomas Müller out wide and destroy his effectiveness, and everything will be fine. Get rid of Costa.”
So, what can Bayern do with Juve having the option to buy on Costa? They can offer him a huge, new contract if he rejects any offers from Juve and rejoins Bayern. Give him a castle... Whatever it takes to get the deal done. Get it done.
Bring Douglas Costa back to Bayern Munich and let him run wild over Europe.
