Report: Lewandowski meets with Zahavi; no word yet on if dessert was eaten before the main course (The Sun)

It appears Bayern Munich’s erstwhile Polish striker has had a dinner meeting with his agent, which only means....MORE TRANSFER RUMORS!

ROBERT LEWANDOWSKI secretly met with super-agent Pini Zahavi for dinner as he plots his Bayern Munich exit, SunSport can exclusively reveal. The Poland star, 29, has made it clear to Bayern he wants to leave with both Chelsea and Real Madrid ready to snap him up. The Bundesliga champions are reluctant to sell their top scorer, who has three years left on his contract. But in pictures exclusively obtained by SunSport, Lewandowski appears to be considering his future by meeting agent Zahavi at the swanky Izakaya Asian Kitchen in Munich.

Swanky indeed!

Los Blancos are resigned to the fact Tottenham will not sell Harry Kane this summer and are looking for options elsewhere. Lewandowski fits the bill as an established world-class frontman who can lead the line in Madrid. And Chelsea’s Alvaro Morata has struggled so much in his first season that Olivier Giroud was bought in January to bolster the Blues’ attack.

This will NEVER end.

Mario Götze is not handling his omission from the World Cup squad well (Bild)

The selection of the provisional squad for Germany has left many a player confused and disillusioned; particularly 2014 World Cup hero and former Bayern Munich man, Mario Götze.

BILD learned: So that there is not more unrest, the frustrated BVB star was taken out of the line of fire bu his club. First consequence: Götze does not have to kick the Blitz tournament in Herne against Westfalia and Wanne-Eickel today, instead receives “special leave.”

No one seems to have taken the news harder than Götze and Sandro Wagner. Götze’s fall from grace has been mostly fueled by health and injury issues, which makes his exclusion easier to understand than Wagner’s omission.

The new BVB advisor Matthias Sammer (50) showed an understanding for the non-nomination: “A tough, but consistent decision, because Mario could not present in the last game. It will hurt him, but life goes on. Maybe the gap is good too much to makeup. He’s not in shape yet, as you know him.”

To no one’s surprise, Renato Sanches will not suit up for Portugal in the World Cup (Goal)

Bayern Munich’s prodigal son has done enough damage with his play to give Portugal enough reason to leave him home from Russia this summer.

Renato Sanches is a sensational absence for Portugal in the 2018 World Cup, failing to find a place even among the Euro 2016 winner’s preliminary 35-man squad announced on Monday. Sanches played six out of seven games as an 18-year-old in France as the side led by Cristiano Ronaldo took their first-ever international title.

As Bunk Moreland said on The Wire, “Makes me sick...how far we done fell.”

Preview: Wolfsburg vs. Holstein Kiel - The Battle for Relegation! (Bundesliga.com)

The Bundesliga website broke down today’s relegation playoff game. The Wovles struggled mightily this season in the top division, while Holstein Kiel is lookng for s second consecutive promotion, which would be impressive.

Wolfsburg host Holstein Kiel on Thursday in the first leg of the relegation play-off as they fight to ensure their Bundesliga survival against a team pushing for a second straight promotion (kick-off: 8:30pm CEST/7:30pm BST/2:30pm ET).

Wolfsburg ended the season with a 4-1 curb stomping of FC Koln (despite a beautiful goal from Jonas Hector). Aside of their horrid season in the top division, the Wolves should have enough talent to hold off Holstein Kiel in this one (if you bet, you should rush to the window and go completely against that “prediction”).
