Robert Lewandowski finished the 2017-18 Bundesliga season as the league’s top scorer with 29 goals. While he comes up just short of his target of 30 goals on the season, Lewandowski finished with 14 more goals than the second place finisher Nils Petersen.
This is the third time that Lewandowski has been crowned as the Bundesliga’s top scorer. He enters rarefied air of players who have won this trophy three times, joining the likes of Gerd Müller, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, and Ulf Kirsten.
It’s been a somewhat turbulent couple of months for Lewandowski with Bayern fans. Failing to score in the Champions League semifinal against Real Madrid along with a public display of disappointment after being subbed out of a Bundesliga game turned a segment of fans against him, demanding the club sell the world’s best striker. Recent statements from Karl-Heinz Rummenigge have squashed any of those ideas.
Congrats, Robert! More to come!
