Per a report via Twitter by Christian Falk of Sport Bild, the aging winger duo of Arjen Robben and Franck Ribéry may receive a contract extension with Bayern Munich. Based on recent results, this could be a strategic decision for the club.

Specifically, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge stated “There’s not a lot that speaks against an extension.” This would seem to be in sync with previous reports that the club would likely make a decision by the end of April on whether or not to bring back the legendary wingers. It remains unclear what roles the veterans would have; particularly whether they would continue to feature in the starting XI or if they would be part of a planned rotation.

Robben and Ribéry have each shown great production of late and could be valuable assets to the team if there is clarity on the roles they will have next season. With Kingsley Coman as a primary winger and Hoffenheim loanee Serge Gnabry another option for next season, Bayern could have tremendous depth on the outside by re-signing Robben and Ribéry.
