Bayern Munich were crowned as the champions of the German Bundesliga on Saturday for a record 6th straight time and a record 27th time overall. If there are “Football Gods” out there, they are surely smiling down on Munich these days.

The mark has been hit twice before in Europe’s top five leagues. The early 2000s Lyon squad won seven straight Ligue Un championships, and the current Juventus squad is on their way to their seventh straight Serie A championship. Before this current run by Bayern in the Bundesliga, the most championships won in a row was three.

Many will scoff at this as “typical Bayern winning the Bundesliga”, but the mark of consistency displayed by this Bayern team through three different managers (Jupp > Pep > Carlo > Jupp) is nothing but pure professionalism and class.

It’s been stated several times on this website over the last few years, but with the intelligent management of this club and domination of the transfer market in Germany and across Europe, this Bayern squad could reach ten.

Celebrate. Bayern are champions!
