Transfermarkt have reported that Bayern Munich midfielder Niklas Dorsch has rejected a contract extension to stay at Bayern.
Born in Bavaria, Dorsch has risen through the ranks of Bayern Munich’s youth system to become captain of Bayern Munich II. The 20-year-old midfielder has played a total of 2,198 minutes for the Bavarians in the Regionalliga Bayern, while also adding two goals and four assists. Featuring in the International Champions Cup for the first team in 2017, Dorsch has since then been confined to the second team. This being the case, Dorsch now seems to have set his sights on moving elsewhere.
With the signing of Leon Goretzka and the fierce competition in Bayern’s midfield, Dorsch may find himself confined to Bayern Munich II yet again if he stays with the club. Once touted as the next Toni Kross or Bastian Schweinsteiger by Bleacher Report, Dorsch will certainly catch the attention of teams in Germany and beyond. Reports suggest that some of the teams interested in acquiring the services of Dorsch are SC Freiburg, Borussia Mönchengladbach and 1. FC Nürnbeg.
