This will surely get mixed opinions, but a new kit is a new kit...

The new Bayern Munich home kit for the 2018-2019 season has been leaked via Footy Headlines. Earlier this year, the design concepts for Bayern’s home kit, away kit, third kit, and an additional retro kit were leaked; but now we have a good look at the completed home kit that they’ll be sporting next season.

Have a looksie:

Footy Headlines

As you can see, Adidas has once again struck a perfect balance between preserving previous years’ jerseys while juxtaposing them with subtle changes that create a sleek, new look. This jersey has a little bit of everything, including bold vertical pin stripes across the front and white piping on the shoulders, bearing similarities to the 1991-1992 home kits that had subtle, off-white stripes going down the front and back of the jersey.

The white shoulder stripes also pay homage to the 2013 kits in which Bayern won the treble under Jupp Heynckes. The navy blue sleeve cuffs also give a bit of a newer feel to the kit, as we’ve grown so accustom to white sleeve cuffs over the past couple of seasons.

Consistent with Uli Hoeness’s dream of “FC Deutschland,” there are also striking similarities between the subtle, off-red diamond pattern throughout the home kit and the pattern that appears on Germany’s new away kit in a slightly different orientation:

Footy Headlines also revealed that the 2018/2019 home kit will be accompanied by dark blue shorts and red socks. The shorts will presumably be a [navy] blue color similar to this season’s away jersey. In a sense, it’s almost like we’re going to be getting the best bits from this season’s respective kits in next season’s home get-up. The attention to detail Adidas has put into these new jerseys is impressive, and for a club with as much history as Bayern Munich, every single thread possesses the potential to be a part of that history in one way or another.
