The last 48 hours have been a whirlwind of information leaking out of the Bayern Munich camp, but a report by Bild indicates that David Alaba was not in training this morning and will not be available for the Champions League showdown with Real Madrid.
Alaba was not present at warm-ups this morning because of thigh problems and thus is unavailable for Bayern in their giant semifinal match against the defending champion. Jupp Heynckes still had hope yesterday, saying at the press conference before the match, “With Alaba and Tolisso, it will be decided tomorrow whether they are on the squad.” Rafinha is expected to play as Alaba’s replacement at left-back. The Brazilian a blue shirt as a member of the starting lineup in the closed final training session.
There is good news meanwhile about Corentin Tolisso. The Frenchman is fit after his shin bruise and ready for the semifinals. He will sit on the bench at first—as well as Thiago, presumably. In the midfield, Heynckes probably planning to deploy an offensive line like in the Sevilla return leg: Martinez with Robben, Müller, James, and Ribéry, with Lewandowski in front.
It should also be noted that this report states that Thiago will be a substitute as well. Some outlets have disputed that Thiago will sit in favor of Arjen Robben, but BavaraianFootballWorks.com has not seen a source on that material. Should we obtain any source report, we will update this post.
UPDATE [1:48PM EST]: It’s official, Alaba is out and Jupp Heynckes has opted to start Robben and James over Thiago.
