Per a report by Austrian outlet Laola1, Bayern Munich left back David Alaba indicated confidence regarding his standing for the Champions League contest against Real Madrid:
Because of thigh problems, whose origin could lie in the back area, (Alaba) is questionable for the duel with the Spaniards. “But I will do everything from my side to be available on Wednesday,” said the ÖFB star to the “APA” and is confident that it will work with a commitment: “At the moment it looks quite good.”
If he is fit and able to contribute, Alaba’s presence would be a boost to the Bayern attack that will need to best Cristiano Ronaldo and the rest of Los Blancos.
The ÖFB team-player is eager to get fit for the match with Real and to help defeat the defending champion. Alaba knows about the qualities of the Spaniards. “From the collective of the opponent, Cristiano Ronaldo stands out,” said Alaba. Last year, the Portuguese was instrumental in the fact that Real eliminated Bayern in the quarterfinals. Referee decisions at the Estadio Bernabeu did the rest.
That last sentence was a nice ZING at the referee’s performance last year.
Anyway, Bayern’s website is as crafty as ever and only referenced the players who did not train today. Given the lack of news reported otherwise, we at least know that Alaba participated both yesterday and today without incident.
Jupp Heynckes watched his players and even joined them. The 72-year-old provided a few assists himself and scolded Niklas Süle with a grin when the latter only hit the post following a Heynckes pass. The atmosphere at the Säbener Strasse could not have been better at the start to the week. The Bavarians were in a great mood, but highly focused during training. Only Manuel Neuer, Arturo Vidal and Kingsley Coman missed the session.
As always, if anything formal is announced, we will update this post.
