As reported by FCBayern.com and Sport 1, Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has returned to team training. The FCBayern.com post stated:

The FCB captain completed part of the full session in the Munich sunshine before continuing his own personal exercises. “We’re all really pleased with his development,” enthused Jupp Heynckes about the return of the Germany and Bayern No.1. However, he went on to stress that Neuer will “pick up the pace in his goalkeeping training little by little.” The Bayern captain has been sidelined since September with a broken metatarsal.

Meanwhile, Sport 1 excerpted the press conference of Jupp Heynckes and provided this quote:

“Manuel works great, he’s going to be integrated into the group today, he’s going to do the warm-up and pass-training, and then we’ll keep looking at the goalie training, and we’re all very happy with the overall development.”

In addition, Sport 1 also captured this from Heynckes regarding when to expect Neuer’s return, which has been rumored to be May 5th:

“I know what I’m doing, I have a clear plan, always, and you’ll see that when I put it into practice. The discussion comes way too early, but for me it is no discussion whatsoever. With Manuel we did everything right, he’s been built so consistently that he can still play and ride to the World Cup this season, which was not easy.”

It has been a long, arduous road to recovery for Neuer, who will surely be happy once he is finally back in game action.
