Per a report by SportBild’s Christian Falk, Bayern Munich has extended the contracts of legendary wingers Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery one, additional year through the 2018-2019 season.
It was previously reported that Bayern had decided to extend Ribery, but there was only speculation surrounding the future of Robben. The contract extensions ensure that both players will provide a veteran presence around youthful wings Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry, who is expected to return to Munich this summer after loan stint at Hoffenheim.

It has been speculated that both Robben and Ribery were made aware that they would have to take a reduced role on the squad, acting as both mentors to younger players and also as rotational options for whoever is calling the shots on the sideline next season for Die Roten.
While it is true that neither player is quite the force they were once were respectively, both Bayern stalwarts have apparently shown the club enough ability this season to be considered viable options within a rotation for an additional year.
