Coach Jupp Heynckes may have given the team the day off (in fact, two days off) after Bayern Munich demolished Freiburg on Sunday, but James Rodriguez hit the training pitch again at Säbener Straße on Tuesday as he works on his comeback after suffering a minor calf injury in the first leg of Bayern’s Champions League tie against Besiktas (FCBayern.de).

James continued his rehabilitation on the pitch Tuesday morning under the watchful eyes of fitness coach Dr. Holger Broich and Thomas Wilhelmi. He worked primarily on running drills, but also exercised with a ball again.

The step forward is great news for the team. James may be able to rejoin team training in order to make a comeback in Bayern’s upcoming home game against a relegation-bound Hamburg. If so, a cameo against the soon to be extinct Dinosaurs could be the perfect warm-up to Bayern’s important and sure to be challenging away game against Besiktas JK in Istanbul, on Tuesday, March 14—a week from today.
