Well that was a massive waste of time. (Or was it?)

In a somewhat surprising turn of events, Spezia Calcio defender Gabriele Corbo has reportedly extended his contract with his current club until 2022, putting an end to speculation that he will be joining Bayern Munich in the summer. The Bavarian giants had courted the youngster extensively for the past three months, and the transfer seemed to be a foregone conclusion — until today.

According to this report in TZ, the player is still being sought out by the likes of Juventus and Inter Milan. The news of his contract extension comes as a huge surprise, as the Corbo transfer seemed to have already been completed. The defenderwas seen posing in a full-Bayern kit just a few weeks ago:

According to TZ however, the transfer could still go through. Spezia seem to be in some financial difficulty, so Corbo’s rumored price is in the range of €255,000, a paltry sum for giants such as Bayern Munich. Therefore he could still end up in Bayern colors come this summer transfer window. We’ll just have to wait and see.
