Arturo Vidal put Chile in the lead in a friendly vs. Sweden in Solna on Saturday with a sensational volley that fizzed into the upper left corner of the goal. The volley came after a corner kick from Alexis Sanchez was cleared out of the box by Sweden. Unfortunately for the hosts, the clearance fell right into the path of Vidal just on the edge of the 18-yard box, and the midfielder made perfect connection on the volley, leaving the keeper absolutely glued to his heels—there was NO stopping that!
Sweden equalized just a minute later through Ola Toivonen, but a late, 90th-minute goal from Chile’s Marcos Bolados gave the visitors the lead. Next up for Vidal and Chile is a trip to the Aalborg Stadium to take on Denmark in a friendly match. We can’t make any promises that Vidal will produce another wonder-strike, but as long as he comes back to the Säbener Straße without any injuries, we’ll all be pretty pleased! Vidal’s been in decent form and we definitely need that to continue!
