As rumors continue to swirl around the eventual sunset of Arjen Robben’s career. The man himself remains focused on the present and immediate future of Bayern Munich. The Bavarians are well on their way towards a sixth consecutive Bundesliga title, a berth in the semifinals of the DFB Pokal, and will look to repeat their 2013 success in the UEFA Champion’s League.

The future is now for Robben. He knows there won’t be many more opportunities to chase Europe’s elite silverware. Speaking on Bayern’s treble aspirations and avoiding complacency while completing in the Bundesliga, he said (via ESPN FC):

We must maintain this rhythm in order to increase our chances in the Champions League as well.

Bayern Munich have seen a massive turnaround in their performance since manager Jupp Heynckes was hired, having now won 20 of their last 21 games. Robben also spoke of the leadership in the dressing-room and the man who keeps them motivated:

We have enough experience and leaders out on the pitch to set the tone. On top of that, we have a coach who knows exactly what’s needed at the top level. I don’t see any danger of us easing off.

With his contract expiring and no decision expected until April, some have suggested that Robben would be more suited to a return to his native Netherlands. Dutch legend, Frank de Boer, however, disagreed with those sentiments. On the contrary, regarding Robben’s future, de Boer said (via Bundesliga.com):

He should end his career with Bayern.

Although Robben’s future at FC Bayern may be uncertain, the flying Dutchman with the golden left-foot cannot afford the luxury of looking back at his career in the rear-view mirror just yet.
