Per a report by Bild, Schalke’s Leon Goretzka will pocket approximately 18-20 million euros as a signing bonus when he joins Bayern Munich this summer. In addition, Goretzka is expected to earn 10 million euros per year as a salary.
Goretzka’s Bayern contract will run through 2022 and the German international is considered to be a big part of Bayern’s upcoming youth movement. With a strong focus on keeping German talent in the Bundesliga, Bayern secured Goretzka to be part of that core group.
Goretzka has registered six goals in just 12 Germany caps and if, as expected, the 23-year-old is included in Jogi Löw’s World Cup roster this summer, the midfielder will have the luxury of being mentored by the likes of Toni Kroos and Mesut Ozil, while also gaining further experience playing with Bayern mainstays Thomas Müller, Joshua Kimmich, Mats Hummels, and Jerome Boateng among others.
When Goretzka joins Bayern, he will become part of a loaded central midfield group that includes stalwarts Arturo Vidal, Thiago Alcantara, and Javi Martinez, along with rotational players Corentin Tolisso and Sebastian Rudy. In addition, when factoring in the primarily centrally-based roles of Müller and James Rodriguez, many are expecting more roster movement in Munich to accommodate the arrival of Goretzka.
