How does a major club handle a roster that is already inundated with talent? It continues to add more to its arsenal. In an interview with Bild, Serge Gnabry’s agent, Hannes Winzer, cleared up any confusion on whether Gnabry would take another year of seasoning at Hoffenheim.
Serge will return to FC Bayern in the summer. He then will have played in the Bundesliga for two years, gotten to know different systems, philosophies and coaches, in addition to his Premier League experience. The timing is very good.
Gnabry, who made his first-team debut with Arsenal back in the 2012/2013 season, will join an already crowded Bayern roster with an eye on a wing position. With next season’s plans for the aging duo of Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery not yet finalized, Gnabry could conceivably slide into one of those roles or simply provide depth as a bench player.
While on loan with Hoffenheim this season, Gnabry has contributed a very respectable three goals and four assists, despite missing most of September and all of October on account of injuries. Whoever Bayern’s next manager is will have no shortage of talent to work with in Munich next season.
