Per a report of Ives Galarcep of Goal, it appears that the much-speculated move to formalize a transfer of Chris Richards to Bayern Munich is underway.
Richards, an FC Dallas loanee by way of Texans SC and Hoover, Alabama, has been impressive during his stint in Munich, including a very successful showing during the International Champions Cup last summer.
An 18-year old, Richards stands 6-foot-3 and weighs 185 pounds. Richards has displayed excellent defensive skills and a calmness on the ball for the Bayern U-19 squad. In addition, Richards was recently called up to the Bayern U-23 team when Lars Lukas Mai was promoted to the first team roster against Werder Bremen.
I’m told Bayern Munich is finalizing the transfer of #USMNT U-20 defender Chris Richards from FC Dallas. The Alabama-born centerback has impressed on loan with Bayern’s U-19s, and is coming off a good showing at the Concacaf Championships. Here’s more: https://t.co/afGHZeSfnv

Per the report by Goal:
FC Dallas and Bayern Munich are putting the finishing touches of a transfer that would keep the 18-year-old with Bayern, the club he joined on loan in the summer. Sources tell Goal the transfer would be a $1.25 million deal, making him the latest American teenager to complete a move to Germany.
Per a Goal report in November, Richards was eager to extend his stay in Bavaria to continue his development:
When they told me there was an option to buy I was like ‘Wow, I hope I can play well enough for them to even consider buying me. Now it’s becoming a reality that they have a good chance of being able to buy me.’
