Bayern Munich center-back Mats Hummels has been pondering a move away from Bayern after dropping out of Niko Kovac’s starting lineup during a lackluster Hinrunde. According to the latest report from The Sun, Maurizio Sarri is on the hunt for an experienced center-back and is interested in bringing Hummels to London.
According to the English tabloid, Bayern Munich has asked Chelsea for £30 million for the World Cup winner, which the English club would have to pay by January 14 to allow Bayern to sign a replacement. Bayern has been pursuing Ajax’s Matthijs de Ligt and most recently has reportedly been weighing whether to activate the €80 million release clause of Atletico Madrid’s Lucas Hernandez.
Chelsea are also reportedly in the running to sign Christian Pulisic from Borussia Dortmund for upwards of £45million. Whether they would be willing to pay two thirds that amount for a 30-year-old center-back is open to question. The club is currently in fourth place in the English Premier League.
Bayern in turn have reportedly offered €15 million for Chelsea’s Callum Hodson-Odoi. The two clubs could conceivably reach an agreement involving both Hodson-Odoi and Hummels, if The Sun’s report of their interest pans out.
