After being in an unfamiliar place for a few weeks, FC Bayern Munich has fought back to end the Hinrunde on a high note. Much of their success can be attributed to a hot-streak from Franck Ribery. The Frenchman has scored four goals in the last four Bundesliga matches, including two goals on Saturday in Frankfurt. (Or should we say “Franckfurt”?) Afterwards his teammate, Thomas Müller said:

What Franck accomplished today was sensational. It’s as if he just turned 22.

When asked about the team’s performance, Ribery said:

I believe that we all had a complicated phase. We reacted well and now you can see that the atmosphere is better again. I always give 100 percent, that is my mentality. You have to enjoy moments like today.

In reality Ribery is 35 years old and his future at FC Bayern is unclear. Sources all around the world have been reporting that he would leave at the end of the season. When asked about his future he said:

That is a difficult question. I haven’t been injured this season and I hope to come out of the winter break fit. We will see what comes next season. For now we just need a vacation.

I love Bayern, they love me. You never know what happens in life.

According to Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Ribery came into the locker room after the match and jokingly asked for a contract extension. KHR appreciated that Ribery has been with the club for ten years and can still joke around with the top brass. While he didn’t have anything definitive to say, he did add this:

I have always said that there are not players that are too old. There are only good players and less-good players. And [Ribery] is very good player. So, we will see what happens, especially if he continues to play as he has recently.

Hopefully there are only good things to come in the Rückrunde for Ribery. Whether this is his last season with Bayern or not, a hot Ribery can help Der Rekordmeister to get back on top of the table. Let’s hope that he comes out of the break just as hot as he is going into it.
