Leon Goretzka out with adductor injury

In what comes as horrible timing considering the pacey and relentless threat that is the Eintracht Frankfurt attack, Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka is not dressed for the game and will not be available to Niko Kovač at all due to an adductor injury.

Goretzka’s physicality and box-to-box pace will be sorely missed against a very dangerous front line for Die Adler. The former Schalke man was settling into his role in the double pivot and had really made strides over the past six weeks while teaming with Joshua Kimmich and Thiago Alcantara at different times.

Goretzka will be replaced in the lineup by Javi Martinez, who will join Kimmich as Bayern’s de facto double pivot. Rafinha will slide into Kimmich’s role at right back in an attempt to sure up the back line for what could be a very difficult challenge.
