With the pending departure of Thomas Wörle after this season, the FC Bayern Munich Frauen have named a successor in SC Freiburg women’s coach Jens Scheuer per a release by FCBayern.com.
Jens Scheuer will be the new head coach of the Bayern Munich women’s team for the upcoming 2019/2020 season. The 40-year-old sports specialist and current coach of SC Freiburg will succeed Thomas Wörle as of July 1, 2019.
FC Bayern Frauen manager Karin Danner was excited to announced the squad’s next leader:
We are happy to announce that Jens Scheuer has chosen a very ambitious coach for FC Bayern Munich. We are convinced that we can successfully develop our women’s department with him.
Per the release, Scheuer has coached the women of SC Freiburg since 2015 to become one of the top teams in the Allianz Women’s Bundesliga. Scheuer’s background includes a playing career that extended from his youth days as a center back for Offenburg FV before moving to SC Freiburg, where he trained under Christian Streich.
Scheuer also spent time with Bahlinger SC in the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg before moving to FC Bötzingen in the Verbandsliga Südbaden, where he began his career in coaching.
