It’s just about that festive time of year again, which means it’s time for celebrations with good company, great food, excellent beer, and, of course, ugly sweaters. In customary fashion (pun intended), Bayern have officially released their 2018 holiday ugly sweaters, and we’re not quite sure whether or not they’re the best, or worst sweaters we’ve ever seen.

The players got into the festive spirit with a team photo sporting the new garments in what looks like a combination of genuine and forced smiles. Side note; we’re really curious what’s inside the presents that Leon Goretzka, Thiago, Manuel Neuer and Sven Ulreich, and David Alaba are holding...perhaps some good injury news for a change?

The sweater itself features Bayern’s very own Berni the bear in traditional Santa Claus getup with snowy mountain-tops, evergreen trees, and red and white stars in the background. It also sports a red striped trim around the waistline, collar, and both cuffs, mimicking the color of the red stars towards the top of the sweater.

Gaze at the official team photo in all its horrendous “glory”:

The verdict on these sweaters is tough to reach. On one hand, ugly sweaters are supposed to be just that, ugly. On the other hand, we’re a team that’s in a bit of a miniature crisis at the moment, so it’s tough for some to stay positive and cheerful, especially considering there’s a large portion of people who are NOT okay with Christmas Music in mid-November.

Bayern’s ultras might also have something to say about these sweaters: they’ve made their collective voice heard in the recent protests of the navy blue kit shorts and the mint green/light blue away tops. Too much blue in this sweater for their liking? An 1860 Christmas? Get the fudge outta here!

Weird flex, but ok Rafinha:

If you’re like me, it’s hard to find anything with Berni on it negative, especially a festive-looking Berni. You know he’s been dipping in the eggnog. Still, we’d like to know what YOU think about these sweaters. Would you rock them to your next ugly sweater party, family get-together, or perhaps even just in front of a fire on a cold wintry night? Let us know!
