David Alaba has pulled a hamstring (FCBayern.com)
First, let’s start with some serious news that isn’t completely bone-chilling. According to the club’s press release, Bayern Munich left back David Alaba, who had to be subbed off against Gladbach due to injury, has now been diagnosed with a small hamstring tear. The report downplays the severity of the injury, stating that the player will miss the upcoming international break, but will be available for selection against Wolfsburg on the 20th of October.
Get well soon, David!

Die Folgen: Bayern Munich vs Borussia Monchengladbach (Bavarian Football Works.com)
Ugh, do I need to keep talking about this game? There’s no two ways about it — we were terrible. Instead of giving you snippets from game, let me show you some of our best comments from the gamethread:
It was good while it lasted.
2.Bundesliga, here we come.

while for us Lewy is like a locked video game character.

That just about sums it up.
FC Bayern players visit Oktoberfest (Twitter)
While there was some initial doubt over whether Bayern players would visit Oktoberfest after such a huge loss, the event went ahead as usual. Here’s James Rodriguez looking extremely slick in traditional Bavarian dress:

A crisis meeting at FC Bayern (Bild.de)
A crisis meeting took place between Niko Kovac, Robert Kovac, and Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic today. The report by Bild is behind a paywall, but we will bring you the full story as soon as we know more:

A call for fan groups (BavarianFootballWorks.com)
We are trying something here at the Daily Schmankerl and need YOUR help. If you read my man Tommy Adams’ piece about his experience with the FCBNYC Fan Club (if you haven’t, SHAME ON YOU!), you could see how great the event was. So we want to highlight some of these wonderful groups that are out there globally and this is what we need from you:
- Name of the group
- Location
- Year founded
- Leadership (if you have people are kind of running the show)
- Meeting place
- Social media handles
- Pictures
I’d LOVE to be able to feature a different fan group every week this season. Maybe we can do it, maybe not...but only YOU can help decide the fate of this idea. Send your info to: barrelsportsblog@gmail.com
