Silly season has come early for Bayern Munich. But with a star winger out for an extended period of time, another winger still not finding his footing and the two other wingers trying to outrun Father Time, it only makes sense that a new wing would be on Bayern’s radar.
Enter Cengiz Ünder. The young Turk has already bagged seven goals in 10 Serie A matches so far and AS Roma appears to be willing to part with him as early as this winter; for the right price of course. Things that could hinder a sale of the right winger are two-fold. One, his contract runs until 2022 which puts Roma in prime position at the bargaining table for a transfer fee. Two, his previous club, Basaksehir in Turkey owns 20% claim to any future sell-on fee which will only drive Roma’s asking price higher.
With Arsenal and a few other English clubs already rumored to be in on the sweepstakes, the bidding might get too rich for the Bayern board’s blood. However, with head coach Niko Kovač in a bit of a rut, and Uli Hoeness professing his undying support for the man, the board might want to put their money where their mouth is and give the gaffer some reinforcements.
