Bayern is the most popular UCL jersey in North Dakota and Oregon (@soccerdotcom)
Okay, this map represents “Champions League” jerseys sold by Soccer.com, but is still a bit shocking. First, there is WAY more Paris Saint-Germain than I would have ever thought. I live in Pennsylvania and really can’t say I’ve seen one PSG jersey.
Second, where are you Bayern fans in Oregon and North Dakota? Tell us if you’ve seen an abundance of Bayern jerseys in your state in the comments below.
Paris, Texas.

Dortmund might want to bolster its roster further with Thorgan Hazard (SportsMole)
As if Borussia Dortmund’s offense isn’t scary enough right now, BVB is allegedly looking into acquiring Borussia Monchengladbach’s Thorgan Hazard.
Borussia Dortmund are reportedly considering an approach for Borussia Monchengladbach attacker Thorgan Hazard. Hazard has scored seven times and registered four assists in nine appearances for Gladbach this term, but the Belgium international’s future is being called into question with his contract due to expire in 2020.
The 25-year-old, who is the brother of Chelsea attacker Eden Hazard, failed to make a single appearance during his time at Stamford Bridge, but has impressed in German football. According to Sky Germany, Dortmund have been encouraged by Hazard’s development over the last 12 months, and are now considering a January approach for the versatile attacker.
I rate Thorgan Hazard pretty highly within the league and while he would absolutely be an asset to Dortmund, I think they just might end up with too much talent offensively. I am not sure how they could possibly keep it all happy (similar to the harping I did all spring summer about Bayern’s 6, 8, and 10 positions...).

Anthony Martial to re-up with Manchester United (Daily Mail)
It is not official yet, but one player who Bayern has kept tabs on is about to re-sign with this current club. Frenchman Anthony Martial will reportedly extend his deal for five years and stay with the Red Devils for £160,000 per week over that time.
Anthony Martial is ready to turn down Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich and sign a new contract at Manchester United. The French striker has been linked with a number of leading European clubs after his relationship with United manager Jose Mourinho became strained. Martial had left United’s preseason tour of the United States to return to Paris for the birth of his son, leading to criticism from Mourinho that he didn’t return quickly enough.Martial had already rejected a number of contract offers from United but has now indicated he would be open to signing one worth £160,000 a week.
A call for fan groups (BavarianFootballWorks.com)
We are trying something here at the Daily Schmankerl and need YOUR help. If you read my man Tommy Adams’ piece about his experience with the FCBNYC Fan Club (if you haven’t, SHAME ON YOU!), you could see how great the event was. So we want to highlight some of these wonderful groups that are out there globally and this is what we need from you:
- Name of the group
- Location
- Year founded
- Leadership (if you have people are kind of running the show)
- Meeting place
- Social media handles
- Pictures
I’d LOVE to be able to feature a different fan group every week this season. Maybe we can do it, maybe not...but only YOU can help decide the fate of this idea. Send your info to: barrelsportsblog@gmail.com
