Daily Schmankerl: Meet the Over the Rhine - Cincinnati Fan Group; FC Dallas prospects get the retro treatment; and MORE!

Finally, the Bundesliga is BACK!

Meet the Over the Rhine - Cincinnati, Ohio Fan Group (Bavarian Football Works)

As part of a weekly series that we will keep running as long as we have submissions (so keep them coming!), we are doing a brief profile of Bayern Munich fan groups globally. This week our subject is Over the Rhine, checking in from Cincinnati, Ohio!

The Over the Rhine group has a membership of 271 Bayern supporters and holds a special place in the fan club hierarchy as Cincinnati and Munich are official “Sister Cities.” With viewing events at Mad Tree Brewery, the group looks to have an extremely fun and supportive atmosphere. If you are in the Cincinnati area, try to join in the fun!

Name of Group: Over the Rhine

Location: Cincinnati, Ohio

Year Founded: 2015

Leadership: Adam Jacob, Founder/President, and Mike Andrews, Vice President

Membership: 271

Meeting Place: Mad Tree Brewery

Social media handles:

We have officially run out of fan groups to profile as the submissions have all been done. We would absolutely love to keep this going, so if you have one - SEND US YOUR INFO. We want to go to Philadelphia! Chicago! Albuquerque! Oslo! Detroit! Toronto! Beijing! Sydney! Boise! Helsinki!

But alas, we need more submissions. This is what we need to get your profile done:

  • Name of the group
  • Location
  • Year founded
  • Leadership (if you have people are kind of running the show)
  • Meeting place
  • Social media handles
  • Pictures

I’d LOVE to be able to feature a different fan group every week this season. Maybe we can do it, maybe not...but only YOU can help decide the fate of this idea. Send your info to: barrelsportsblog@gmail.com

FC Dallas prospects Thomas Roberts and Brandon Servania hit Munich (@FCBayernUS)

Ahhhhh....I am old enough to remember the TV show Dallas (so sad). Very creative work by the creative team for Bayern, though, and a nice cameo by Chris Richards ( I always knew he was the one who really shot J.R.).

Anyway, as reported here back on October 10th, the partnership between Bayern and FC Dallas continues to see talent find its way to Munich.

Arsenal is the new leader in the race for Cengiz Ünder (Sport Witness)

Arsenal might be taking over as the favorite to land the young Turk.

Cengiz Ünder’s stock has, over the past few months, increased considerably, to the point where clubs like Arsenal and Bayern Munich are continuously linked with him. How interested these clubs actually are in the Roma winger has yet to be revealed, as no real offers have been made for his services, but who knows what could happen between now and January?

Over in Italy, there is an ongoing discussion over what the Serie A side should be doing if the right offer comes along, and the alleged consensus within the club is that €60m would do the trick. That might seem like a lot, especially for a 21-year-old, but Arsenal have shown they are willing to spend big on the right player in the past.

A reason for that elevated price, according to ForzaRoma.info, is that Roma will also have to pay 20% (so €12m if the sale is €60m) of a future sale back to Basaksehir.

The website also state that Arsenal are the ones in ‘pole position’, ahead of the Bundesliga side, to sign him, which is a bit of a contrast to some of the other reports around Europe after his former agent stated Bayern wanted him to replace an aging Arjen Robben.
