Daily Schmankerl: Bayern linked to Milan Škriniar and Aaron Ramsey; FC Dallas sends Bayern new talent; and MORE!

With potential targets at Arsenal, Inter, and Genoa, Bayern Munich has its scouts working overtime.

Bayern tied to Internazionale defender Milan Škriniar (Calciomercato)

Bayern Munich’s quest for young talent has taken it to Inter according to reports out of Italy:

Last year he proved to be one of the best defenders in Serie A and the beginning of this season is confirming those impressions. Milan Škriniar is fundamental in Inter, who, a little more than a year after his arrival from Sampdoria, finds himself as a jewel for the appetite from half of Europe. And after the offers by Manchester City and Barcelona last summer, now there is another big one ready to come forward for the Slovakian central: Bayern Munich.

Given the bad start of the season, the management of the Bavarians is thinking of a deep roster revolution starting from the next January market and, according to Tuttosport, has put Škriniar in the crosshairs to renew the defense. Inter assesses the player at least 80 million euros - roughly the same amount paid by Liverpool for (Virgil) van Dijk - and for months he has been in contact with Slovakian agents to renew the contract expiring 2022: the offer is a fee of 2.5 million per season, but the request is 3.5.

Škriniar is a 23-year old Slovakian, who stands 6-foot-2 and weighs 185 pounds. Tall and athletic, Škriniar seems to fit the mold of what Bayern seeks from its central defenders. A price tag of €80M, however, seems to make him a bit pricey for Bayern’s coffers.

Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey is also on Bayern’s radar (Fussballinfo.net)

Bayern was rumored to be interested in Aaron Ramsey back in 2014 and might be looking at the Welshman again per Calciomercato.com, as captured by Fussballinfo.net:

It could be really exciting on the transfer market, however, next summer. Then, as President Uli Hoeneß has already suggested, FC Bayern could take a lot of money to sign up to one or perhaps several high-caliber candidates.

If the opportunity to offer a bargain, but Bayern would hardly reject it. In this context, Bayern are called by the portal “Calciomercato.com” along with several other clubs as an interested party for Aaron Ramsey, whose contract expires at Arsenal. The 27-year-old Welshman could provide a fresh wind in midfield. In particular, if Thiago, who is still not always convincing, should leave the club.

Competition for Ramsey could be heavy as both Liverpool and Manchester United (surprise!) are rumored to be on the hunt for the midfielder.

Bayern target Krzysztof Piatek also being courted by Borussia Dortmund among others (Calciomercato)

We detailed Bayern’s interest in Genoa man Krzysztof Piatek and even went a little in depth to provide some additional background on the Polish striker, who has taken Europe by storm. His standout performances for Genoa, however, are drawing big interest from other clubs in search of the next Robert Lewandowski, including Borussia Dortmund.

Krzysztof Piatek does not stop anymore. Yesterday against Parma came his ninth goal in the league but it could have been ten. To deny him the joy of the second exultation of the day, it was the post and then the reactivity of the opponent goalkeeper Sepe who took the ball away from the goal less than an inch from the net. A moment of extraordinary form that certainly did not go unnoticed, especially in the Bundesliga.

Borussia Dortmund has long been on the trail of Piatek and is now convinced to bet hard. The Gialloneri are preparing a super market offer for January with the intention of gaining a position ahead of Bayern Munich. Hoeness, president of the Bavarian club, was fascinated by this Polish sniper.

THE GENOA STRATEGY - Preziosi has already made it clear that he does not want to give up Piatek, except for truly unmissable offers. The valuation is now around 30/35 million but is destined to rise during the season. There are chances that Wolfsburg and Schalke 04 are clubs interested, but who do not warm the heart of the gunslinger.

It was interesting that Wolfsburg and Schalke were in on Piatek. It seems like the exact player that each team needs at this point, but would either splurge to bring in a player that could seemingly instantly improve their respective offenses? Would he even sign with them? Well, not if the clubs below are in the mix.

While it may seem like a two-horse race between Bayern and Dortmund on Piatek, the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool, and Tottenham Hotspur are now beginning to take notice of the striker and are contemplating offers. The Pole has 12 goals in seven games across all competitions.

Bayern to host two FC Dallas youth players on 10-day training stint (FCDallas.com)

The relationship between Bayern and FC Dallas grows stronger as two more FC Dallas youth players will join Bayern for a training opportunity.

FC Dallas Homegrown midfielders Thomas Roberts and Brandon Servania have joined FC Bayern Munich for a 10-day training period in Germany through the clubs’ Elite Player Development Partnership. The duo join Homegrown defender Chris Richards, who is currently on loan with FC Bayern.

Servania, 18, signed as the 19th Homegrown Player on January 3, 2018. He joined the FC Dallas Academy in 2015 and was a member of the U-16 team that brought home the 2016 U.S. Soccer Development Academy National Championship and the U-18 team that captured the club’s first Gordon Jago Dallas Cup Super Group title in 2017. He was loaned out to Tulsa Roughnecks FC and has appeared in 17 games since May 2018.

A call for fan groups (BavarianFootballWorks.com)

We are trying something here at the Daily Schmankerl and need YOUR help. If you read my man Tommy Adams’ piece about his experience with the FCBNYC Fan Club (if you haven’t, SHAME ON YOU!), you could see how great the event was. So we want to highlight some of these wonderful groups that are out there globally and this is what we need from you:

  • Name of the group
  • Location
  • Year founded
  • Leadership (if you have people are kind of running the show)
  • Meeting place
  • Social media handles
  • Pictures

I’d LOVE to be able to feature a different fan group every week this season. Maybe we can do it, maybe not...but only YOU can help decide the fate of this idea. Send your info to: barrelsportsblog@gmail.com
