Playing for the rekordmeister means breaking records, and one Robert Lewandowski has just added another to his list. The Bayern Munich striker netted a double last Sunday against Werder Bremen, bringing his tally to 94 goals in 114 games for the Bavarians. With that, he surpassed teammate Arjen Robben as the club’s leading foreign born goalscorer. Robben sits just behind Lewy on 93 goals.
Earlier in the season, Lewandowski overtook Claudio Pizzaro’s tally of 84 goals for Bayern. However, the Peruvian still leads the all time league scoring charts (for a non-German) with 191 goals. In comparison, Lewandowski is currently on 168 goals, but the 29 year old still has a lot left in the tank.
To top off the record-breaking news, big Bob has now scored in all of Bayern’s home games thus far this season - a feat unrivaled by any other striker in the club’s history. Especially impressive when you remember his competition - German legend and all time great Gerd Muller.
Here’s to more Lewy records in the future!
