According to Dutch newspaper Algemeen Dagblad (AD), Bayern Munich had scouts in Amsterdam reviewing the play of 18-year old Ajax center back, Matthijs de Ligt. The 6 foot 1 defender has a transfer value of 16,00 Mill. € according to Transfer Market and could be a long-term successor for stalwarts Mats Hummels and Jerome Boateng.

De Ligt, who has made 48 career appearances for Ajax, has scored twice this season and joined the famed Ajax Academy as a nine-year old. De Ligt debuted for the senior team in October of 2016.
According to AD, both Barcelona and Manchester City are also targeting de Ligt, which can only speak of the quality the youngster has shown early in his career. As a bonus, de Ligt has gained international experience with three caps for the Netherlands, who will not be playing in this upcoming World Cup.
De Ligt, whose contract with Ajax runs through 2021, should draw a decent transfer fee - perhaps higher than transfermarkt’s estimation - with super powers like Bayern, Barcelona, and Manchester City all involved in the chase.
